January 2018 Edition

Dear Golf Travelers,

Welcome to this issue of the Asian Golf Nation, the source for news breaking information about golf in Asia. Also, unique golf playing tips for Indochina's tropical environment, announcements of golf travel promotions, and our latest subscription offer are all integral parts of today's newsletter.

During this holiday season, we are truly thankful for all of the wonderful golfer travelers and people in the industry that we work with throughout the year. From myself and the entire Golfasian team, we would like to extend best wishes to you and your family for a joyful and successful 2018 New Year.

Cooler weather is here. In fact, it's downright cold; with highs only in the mid-20's centigrade. Thailand and Vietnam are arguably the best places in the world for a golf holiday during this time. Weather, golf, culture, affordability, and world-class hospitality make for unforgettable golf experiences.

I am very proud to mention and send a big thank you for assisting Golfasian to achieve Asia's Best Golf Tour Operator status. This year we picked up top honors in three categories at the 2017 World Golf Award held at Spain's La Manga Golf Club. Golfasian was named Best Inbound Golf Tour Operator for Vietnam and Thailand, accolades we hold now for four consecutive years. Additionally, we were singled out as Asia's Best Golf Tour Operator, a garland that reaffirms our status as the region's premier golf tourism organization.

The awards were voted on by industry insiders as well as golfers such as yourselves. This huge honor that you bestowed upon us is further recognition of what we have worked so hard to achieve; the undisputed market leader for both golfers and partners seeking total Asian golf experiences at extremely good values and that surpass expectations.

The golf, culture, and exotic beauty of Asia are perfectly suited for unforgettable golf experiences. Whether it be playing in one of our organized golf tournaments or on a golf holiday, you are guaranteed to play world-class golf, meet friendly locals, experience excellent cuisines, sample exotic cultures, and enjoy fascinating entertainment. Best of all everything on offer is at great prices. Complete full-service itineraries created for your specific travel preferences, expectations, group size, and budgets are our specialty; contact us for a competitive quote.

With that, I invite you to read on and hear what's new from around the region.

Until the next newsletter, happy golfing and I hope to see you in Asia very soon!

GOLF NEWS FROM AROUND THE REGION

Kiarti Thanee Country Club

Vietnam Bangkok

One of the original Bang Na courses built on flat rice paddy land in the outskirts of Bangkok, Kiarti Thanee Country Club closed for some long overdue renovations. With new Japanese owners, modern turf, and well designed green complexes, the Kato Yoshikazu designed course will be brought up to modern standards together with a brand new contemporary clubhouse when it reopens in 2019.

Ba Na Hills Golf Club

Vietnam Danang

For the second year in a row, Ba Na Hills Golf Club was named Asia’s Best Golf Course at the same 2017 World Golf Awards as mentioned above. Previously, Ba Na Hills won World’s Best New Golf Course after opening in 2016. The newest Danang golf course located at the foot of a towering mountain range about half an hour west of Danang is an excellent addition to the nearby seaside links-style courses that dot the coast between Hoi An and Hue.

Marina Bay Golf Course

Vietnam Singapore

One of Asia’s unique golf courses is getting even bolder. The public and outstanding links course at Marina Bay opened a new 6-hole putting course to enhance the sport’s appeal to irregular golfers. However, the par-24 putting course is not just for families or Sunday players. The Marina Bay Putting Course is a 21-meter fantasy that is a great way to warm-up before any regulation round. Having manicured greens which are similar to those on the 18-hole golf course, the putting course features contouring, undulations, and holes of varying lengths. There are even par-3, par-4 and par-5 putting holes ranging from 20 to 62 meters. What a fun way to add an hour or so to your round.
