Asian Golf Nation - July 2011

Facebook Like Button    Google +1 Button

Dear Travel Partners & Golf Travelers,

Thailand GolfWelcome to the July edition of the Asian Golf Travel Nation. Original and news breaking stories on the state of golf in South East Asia, useful golf course information, unique golf playing tips for South East Asia's tropical environment, announcements of golf travel promotions, and our latest subscription offer are all still integral parts of the newsletter.

The summer golf season is in full swing and I hope you are playing some great golf. Here in South East Asia, the weather has cooled slightly, after a hot spring. The central and northern regions are seeing mostly overcast days with early evening showers once the Sunday goes down. In the south, there have been a few days of continuous rain mixed with times of overcast skies. For clients in Phuket or Samui, we schedule golf on off days as required.

What about Golfasian? At the moment we should be in the "low season", but thanks to your support, we are continuing to welcome new and returning golfer holidaymakers each and every day. Special thanks to all of our friends from down under. Australians in particular are enjoying the beaches, mountains, and cities of Thailand and Vietnam in record numbers. More and more South East Asia is becoming recognized as year-round golf destination with reasonable costs, great service, and of course, world-class golf.

With that here are some golf developments from around the region.

Golf news from around the region:

Thailand
*Chiang Mai GolfChiang Mai: The Northern Thai Golf Festival was a big hit and the courses in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are all talking about making next year’s event even better. For those who did not have a chance to get to Chiang Mai in June, you still have a chance to take advantage of the great pricing as we are extending our Chiang Mai golf offers by one month. Furthermore, Golfasian is absorbing all fee increases as a courtesy and to give thanks to all of you who have supported us this past year. Let me know if you would like to know more about our Chiang Mai Golf Festival July Extension.

Hua Hin: This summer will see the Hua Hin Golf festival return in August and this year all area courses are participating by offering reduced green fees for the months of August and September. As Hua Hin is the driest Thai golf destination, it makes the most sense to plan any golf holidays to this area to take advantage of the low costs and drier weather. Speaking of Hua Hin, I will be going down to play the new Sea Pine Golf Course this week. Current reports now that the clubhouse is complete are excellent and the first who have played Sea Pine are all reporting that this new Hua Hin golf course makes a perfect addition to any Hua Hin golf package. Stay tuned for my comments and findings in the next newsletter.

Cambodia
*Cambodia GolfSiem Reap: Can you believe this elaborate scheme designed to trick golf visitors? Siem Reap Lake Golf resort has officially changed their name to Angkor Lake Golf Resort. How coincidental is it that this 3rd ranked course just about copied the name of Cambodia's best course; Angkor Golf Resort. Certainly the owners could have come up with something more original. I can just see the drivers trying to figure out which is which when they show up at the wrong course. Worse yet golfers new to the area probably won't even know until after they finished playing. Make sure you book with an agent who knows the difference or at least double check prior to playing.

The Angkor Amateur Open will be held from August 5th - 7th at the Faldo designed Angkor Golf Resort. The entry fee starts at just USD 280 and the are still spots available. If you are interested to participate in this Cambodia Golf Tournament, hurry and visit the Angkor Amateur Open website.

Indonesia
*New Kuta Golf CourseBali: Complete Bali golf course, hotel, and up-to-date Bali golf package information is now online and available. With the New Kuta Golf Course wining so many awards, this is now one more excellent golf course near the main beach areas. For those of you looking for that perfect golf, sun, fun, and luxury holiday, you might just want to give Bali a try this year. Remember if you want to get regular updates about golf in Asia then sign-up for uninterrupted email delivery of this newsletter. In addition, all persons signing up will automatically receive the latest "Thailand Golf Insider Tips" special report.

Also, GOLFASIAN have secured special deals with over 200 golf courses and 850 hotels in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia to offer the very best promotions for the 2010 low season.  Please contact us for details and your requests. Whatever your budget and preferred style of travel, we are glad to suggest a golf package to meet your needs.

Until the next newsletter, start practicing and I hope to see YOU in the area very soon!

New Thai Golfers

Thailand Golf BlogIn many countries around the world, golf is suffering from the global recession, and the industry will really begin to suffer unless it starts to focus on its future. You can play a game of football with friends after school with a ball and a couple of posts for goals. Same for baseball, you can play the game just with sticks for bats and cans for balls.

But for new golfers to enter the sport, they first need to find and get to a golf course, and then they need to rent or maybe buy a set of clubs. All this can be very expensive.
