Facebook Like Button

Dear Travel Partners & Golf Travelers,

Thailand GolfWelcome to the latest issue of the Asian Golf Nation, the source for news breaking information about golf in Indochina. Once again it's time for me to let you know what going on in golf across the region. In addition, featured courses/resorts, unique golf playing tips, announcements of golf travel promotions, and our latest subscription offer are all integral parts of today's newsletter.

I would like to wish you a joyous and prosperous Thai New Year. Thailand's New Year; Songkran, is the most festive occasion for Thai people. While renowned worldwide for its great celebrations, Songkran stems from ancient traditions that are still observed today. It is a time for great golf and entertainment with family and friends. Happy Thai New Year to golfers worldwide!

Golf tourist arrivals to Asian are on the increase. Thailand and Vietnam in particular are experiencing sharp rises in golf visitor arrivals for the four two months of 2011. This is a good sign that the word is getting out that Thailand remains the best-valued premium golf destination worldwide, with Vietnam a close second. Add to this excellent service and cultural diversity and you have the makings of a golf holiday beyond expectations. In fact, check out our special offers and golf festival packages and you will see exactly what I mean.

Of course there are lots of 'happenings' around the region so with that, I invite you to enjoy this edition of the Asian Golf Nation.

Golf news from around the region:

Thailand
*Chiang Rai GolfChiang Rai: CORRECTION: The new golf course reported in the April Asian Golf Nation is WRONG! The correct information is: Chiang Rai's new golf course, Happy City Golf Club (ed. The name is for real, no kidding!) and is being built by Korean investors. The 29 hole layout (ed. Don't ask me why!) is 14 km from Chiang Rai. The course was shaped by Al Tikkanen (same as Riverdale Golf Club) and grass is now being grown-in. Happy City Golf Club should be ready for play by years end. Stay tuned for me information and "happy" updates.

Chiang Mai: The Chiang Mai Golf Festival is in effect until June 30. Green fees of 800 baht (approx. 20 euros) are being offered at all courses for all golfers! This is great news for golfers looking for a superb Thai golfing experience at a price too good to be true!

Vietnam
*Vietnam GolfHanoi: Dai Lai Star Golf & Country Club is the latest international standard golf course to open in Hanoi. The course from the same owner as Chi Linh Star is only 40 km from the center of Hanoi, making it the second closest course to the city after Van Tri. Natural surroundings at the base of Ngoc Thanh Mountain and around the Dai Lai Lake have been incorporated in the golf course design. A variety of terrains and elevation changes make for some great holes. The facilities and club house are first class making Dai Lai a good choice for any Hanoi golf holidaymaker.

*Featured Golf Course - Banyan Golf Club

Banyan Golf ClubBuilt among a pineapple plantation, Banyan Golf Club in Hua Hin opened in October 2008. The course provides for spectacular mountain and ocean views from most all of the holes and is one of the best layouts in the area. In fact Banyan Golf Club won the 2009 Best New Golf Course in Asia as voted for by the readers of Asian Golf Monthly.

Each hole has 6 tee boxes making the course more or less challenging depending on each golfers abilities and tee selection. Strategically placed water hazards, waste bunkers, and sand traps are spread out throughout the course. Significant use of native pineapple groves make local 'fruits' come into play if you stray too far off most fairways. [Read More about one of Thailand's Best Golf Courses]

RSS Golfing Tips - Custom Fitted Clubs and Their Importance

Thailand GolfWith dozens of grips, hundreds of heads and thousands of shafts making for literally millions of club combinations, more of us are turning to custom fitters to make sense of the equipment minefield.

It is a fact that 90 per cent of golfers are playing either the wrong clubs and shafts, or inappropriate specifications for their game. Everybody has a different physique, or a different style or speed of swing and yet the club manufacturers try to cover the broad spectrum of the market so what is the chance of getting the clubs that are exactly right for you!
