Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
A brand new golf course located in Long An province opened for play last month. The former Golden Ponds project is now open as West Lakes Golf & Villas, and it’s the first golf course located in western Ho Chi Minh City.
The courses itself is a Thomson Perret design with lots of clever mounding, strategically placed bunkering and the latest turf varieties. West Lakes plays well and has excellent service, especially for the first course in an otherwise agricultural area.

Khao Lak, Thailand
Southern Thailand is becoming more popular as luxury travelers venture away from the main resorts in Phuket and Samui and gravitate to the less developed areas on the mainland.
The good news is that Phang Nha Province near the resort of Khao Lak now has three golf courses open for play. The first 9-holes at the Japanese designed Kirinara Golf Course is exceptional and a great value-for-money during its current soft opening until years end. An 18-hole round (9-holes two times) is less than USD 40 including caddie and individual golf cart!

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The upgrades at the TPC Kuala Lumpur West Course have completed, and the golf course reopened for play. Renovation work centered around new turfgrass and minor layout modifications to enhance everyday playability. TifEagle Bermuda grass was used on the greens to provide a consistently fast and true putting surface while Celebration Bermuda grass has been planted on all the tee boxes, fairways, and surrounds. Not coincidentally, the new grasses are identical to those at TPC Sawgrass, home to The Players Championship, the PGA Tour’s annual flagship tournament in Jacksonville, Florida USA.

GOLF DESTINATION REVIEW: Kuala Lumpur
|
|
|
A personal destination review from Sara Salsini, Golfasian Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur is undoubtedly one of the most attractive destinations for golfing in South East Asia.
With its extremely well-connected modern International Airport, KL – as Malaysians friendly call their vibrant capital city - is easily reachable from any country, both regionally and globally.
Besides the amazing choice of hotel options, from affordable 3-start properties to enchanting 5-star luxury hotels, visitors will be inspired by KL variety of cultures, architectural styles, attractions, sights, spas, shopping, dining, and nightlife offerings.
Golf lovers here can experience the magnificent array of golfing opportunities, from TPCKL in the city center, to Palm Garden in Putrajaya.
I personally love KL, which has been my home for more than 7 years, both for its fascinating cultural mix, made up of the 3 main ethnic groups and several minorities, and also its amazing food scene, from street food unique delicacies to excellent and internationally renowned fine-dining restaurants.
While the Petronas Towers are perhaps Kuala Lumpur's most impressive attraction, the offer of rooftop bars - with breath-taking views over the city and its surrounding- is just ideal to relax, chill-our an have some entertainment after a long day of sightseeing and/or golfing.
Make your next golf trip to Kuala Lumpur, it’s a stunning unforgettable experience!

Golfasian Sweeps the Board at World Golf Awards
BANGKOK, Thailand (November 3, 2018) – Asia’s largest golf tour operator, Golfasian, has once again swept the board at the World Golf Awards, scooping a quartet of honors at this year’s event.
The Thailand-based firm, a market leader in golf tourism in Asia since its inception in 1997, has been a star performer at previous installments of the WGA.
Last year, it took first prize in three categories at the prestigious event, held annually at the La Manga Club in southern Spain. The company went one better at this edition of the gala ceremony in Andalucía walking off with four winners’ gongs.
Confirming its status as the region’s most prestigious name in golf tourism, the firm took top honors in the category for Asia’s Best Golf Tour Operator 2018.
In addition, it was named the Best Inbound Tour Operator 2018 for Thailand and Vietnam, the fifth consecutive time it has earned those two titles.
A notable debut was also achieved at this round of the event, with the operator picking up the award for Indonesia’s Best Inbound Golf Tour Operator 2018: the first occasion it has triumphed in that country category.
