Dear Golf Travelers,
World-class is a goal for Asian golf travel, and our November newsletter is full of information which helps get you there. New course openings, unique golf playing tips for South East Asia’s tropical environment, golf travel and tournament updates, and our latest subscription offer are all topics in this month’s Asian Golf Nation.
Most travelers consider SE Asia as a year-round destination, but the period from November to March is a particularly good time of year to visit as the weather is fairly consistent and dry throughout. My favorite spots this season are Pattaya, Thailand (for its range of golf over 30 courses and excellent tee-time availability), Danang, Vietnam (for its world-class courses and resorts), and Batam, Indonesia (for great prices and to discover a new fun-loving golf destination).
It brings me great honor and pride to report to you that Golfasian has proven quality pays off, and that we can always improve. Last month Golfasian won for a second consecutive quadruple best of awards at the World Golf Awards in Abu Dhabi. Golfasian earned top honors in some of Asia’s most competitive markets, Best Inbound Tour Operator 2019 for Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia and Asia's Best Golf Tour Operator overall. The real coup de grace came as Golfasian was named World's Best Golf Tour Operator. That’s right, “Best in the World.”
Your loyalty, feedback, suggestions, and help in our continuous improvement, together with the most capable team in golf travel, are the reasons for our success. Thank you to everyone!
Personalized full service, multi-destination travel, and expert knowledge of Asian golf make us stand out. It’s a source of immense pride to be honored in such a fashion. Some of our sample packages and special offers are online. Also, our full 2020 tournament schedule is available to facilitate advanced planning.
These days, everyone is looking for that special golf trip, and I believe that quality experiences are what counts. Our team understands that matching your interests and budgets in the golfing destinations we serve is what matters most, and we are committed to creating a trip that works for you!
Complete full-service itineraries created for your specific travel preferences, expectations, group size, and budgetary requirements are our specialty. Please contact us anytime for a competitive and tailor-made proposal. One of the Golfasian expert golf travel consultants is always available to help you 24/7.
Happy Golfing,
Mark Siegel

GOLF NEWS FROM AROUND THE REGION
|
|
Hanoi, Vietnam
Northern Vietnam has another golf course! Hilltop Valley Golf Club in Hoa Binh Province, Vietnam, has officially opened with a new 27-hole course designed by IMG. The views on back nine are amazing as the holes play along a mountain ridge, as opposed to most courses that play in valleys. As expected, there are tons of elevation changes and many Instagram moments through the holes. Thick jungle borders most holes, and there is a fair amount of water in the form of streams and lakes scattered through the course. Hilltop Valley demands accuracy and challenges, even for the best golfers.

Hanoi, Vietnam
Northern Vietnam has even another golf course, and no it is not a misprint! Yen Dung Golf Resort in Bac Giang Province, Vietnam has 18-holes open and another 18 in construction. Around 1.5 hours north of Hanoi, it's the first project in Vietnam from American golf architects Albanese and Lutzke. The 18-hole Hillside course opened in 2018, and the second 18-hole Rock Valley course is scheduled to open in 2020. I have not been to the site, so if anyone has played, please do drop me a line and let me know your feedback.

Bangkok, Thailand
Thailand is considered a more established golf destination, with many courses dated back to the 1980s or 1990s. That’s about to change with some new construction in Bangkok. While not much information is available, there are at least four new championship courses being build in the capital of the Land of Smiles. The former Kiarit Thani site transformation to Ban Rakat, a Bangkok located Siam Country Club, Chang’s latest golf course, and The National- built to be the best golf course in Thailand are all under construction. All are slated to open by 2021. I can't wait to get a look at the sites, so stay tuned for more information

GOLF DESTINATION REVIEW: Danang
|
|
|
A personal destination review from Adam Calver, Director of Golf at Laguna Lang Co.
My wife and I first visited Vietnam in 2012 while we were living and working at Nirwana Bali Golf Club. We booked a flight to Hanoi as we aimed to visit Ha long Bay. During our short time in the region, we immediately knew we would be back and, as luck would have it, we are now living in Lang Co in Central Vietnam (an hour from Da Nang and an hour from the ancient city of Hue in Central Vietnam).
Da Nang is booming and with its appeal and the quality of golf that has recently been developed it has positioned itself as the top tourist destination in the region in just a few years. Over a decade ago, the costal city was known for its endless tropical beaches and jungle clade mountains. And where was once a small fishing village, now lies Vietnam’s third largest city with world class luxury resorts rapidly claiming the pristine coastline.

Meet Sophie, Golf Travel Consultant at Golfasian:
My Vietnamese name is Nguyen Binh Nguyen, but most people call me by my nickname Sophie. Based in Ho Chi Minh City, I graduated with a the Bachelors of English Literature in 2008.
After graduation I have been an English teacher for 2 years before joining a travel company as a travel consultant in 2010, where I have worked with suppliers in Vietnam to take care of trips for foreign leisure travelers.
In May 2014 an opportunity arose, allowing me the chance to work as travel consultant at Golfasian, where I have learned a lot about golf tourism and I have the chance to handle business from both overseas agents and direct golfers.
I love working with clients and introduce them to the wonderful golf holiday experience in Vietnam.

Golfasian Wins World’s Best Golf Tour Operator Award
BANGKOK, Thailand (October 29, 2019) – Asia’s leading golf tour operator, Golfasian, is proving the best can get even better as it bolsters a second consecutive quadruple success at the World Golf Awards with a host of new products and improvements.
The Thailand-based firm, a market leader in golf tourism since launching in 1997, walked away from the awards ceremony, which was held this week in Abu Dhabi, with five World Golf Awards.
In a mirror image of its showing at last year’s WGA — an event which is recognized as the most prestigious in the golf tourism industry — Golfasian earned top honours in some of Asia’s most competitive categories.
Winning more awards than any company, it was named the Best Inbound Tour Operator 2019 for Thailand and Vietnam, the sixth consecutive time it has earned those two titles. The operator also came up trumps as Indonesia’s Best Inbound Golf Tour Operator and Asia’s Best Golf Tour Operator for the second time.
And the coup de grace on a memorable night in the Middle East was delivered when Golfasian was named World’s Best Golf Tour Operator.

Thailand Golf, Off the Beaten Track – A Golf Group’s Tale
Hi, my name is Gary. I am an Australian, originally from New South Wales, but now very comfortably domiciled in Perth, Western Australia with a wife of 35 years marriage and two grown up kids!
I have played golf since my father stuck a golf club in my hands when I was about 10 years old. At 61 years old now, I guess you could say I have been a long-term golfer. I have been a member of private golf clubs since a junior, and a member of my current golf club, Melville Glades for the last 22 years.
