Asian Golf Travel Nation - September 2011

Facebook Like Button    Google +1 Button

Dear Travel Partners & Golf Travelers,

Thailand GolfWelcome to the September 2011 edition of the "Asian Golf Travel Nation", the source for news breaking information about Asian Golf. In addition, unique golf playing tips for Indochina's tropical environment, announcements of golf travel promotions, and our latest subscription offer are all integral parts of today's newsletter.

Most of the world's summer holidays are over and it is now back-to-school time for the kids. In Asia, we are in the midst of the "rainy season" with daily afternoon showers being the norm across the region. The golf courses are wet for sure, but all remain open for play, still have low season prices in effect, and due to the lack of visitors quick sub 4 hour rounds are common. Really hard to beat in fact!!

Nevertheless, with fewer visitors, this is a good time for us to catch up on things, update our tours for the high season and inspect all of the area golf courses and hotels.

I was in Pattaya this month and found Laem Chabang and Siam CC Old Course to be in good condition. Laem Chabang in particular has an extensive renovation program underway with new grassing that brings this venerable Jack Nicklaus layout up to modern standards. On the other hand, Burapha, while better than the past, is still rough around the edges and is not taking the wet weather very well.

Next month I am off to Vietnam to inspect the Danang golf courses as well as those in Saigon and Phan Thiet. I will report on what I find out when I am back.

With that, I invite you to read on and hear what's new in golf around the region.

*Featured Golf Course - Banyan Golf Club

Banyan Golf ClubBuilt among a pineapple plantation, Banyan Golf Club in Hua Hin opened in October 2008. The course provides for spectacular mountain and ocean views from most all of the holes and is one of the best layouts in the area. In fact Banyan Golf Club won the 2009 Best New Golf Course in Asia as voted for by the readers of Asian Golf Monthly.

Each hole has 6 tee boxes making the course more or less challenging depending on each golfers abilities and tee selection. Strategically placed water hazards, waste bunkers, and sand traps are spread out throughout the course. Significant use of native pineapple groves make local 'fruits' come into play if you stray too far off most fairways. Stay and golf at the Banyan Resort & Golf starting at just EUR 780 for 7 nights.
